The flight
Hold
Above 8 kg the cabin is out. Air France accepts the hold from 8 to 75 kg including the crate, to be declared at least 24 h before departure.
€400
each way, on this route
The constants, both ways
ISO microchip implanted before or with the vaccine · valid rabies shot (first dose from 12 weeks, then a 21-day wait) · boosters with no lapse · dog fit to travel on the day.
1
Leaving France
No exit formality: the dog leaves the EU freely. Everything hinges on arrival — and above all on the return.
2
Arriving in Mexico
Certificate of Good Health issued within 15 days, original plus copy, on a licensed vet's letterhead. SENASICA OISA inspection. Clean, empty crate. No microchip required, no titer, no quarantine.
3
Before the return, leaving Mexico
SENASICA export health certificate to request about 3 business days ahead, then endorsed at the airport on departure day. To arrange on site, in Spanish.
4
Back into France
Microchip, valid rabies vaccination and an EU animal health certificate endorsed by an official vet before departure. No titer. Travellers' point of entry, original documents.
📦IATA crate calculator
500 / XL
Minimum interior 85 × 41 × 67 cm, computed from the dog's real measurements (71 cm long, 67 cm at the shoulder). Indicative series ≈ 94 × 64 × 68 cm — always check the crate's real interior.
🌡️Heat risk in the hold
Threshold ≈ 30 °C
Above it, many airlines suspend the hold — the embargo follows the temperature, not the season. What counts is the tarmac at departure and on arrival, not the forecast in town.
Mexico does not require rabies vaccination on entry. France, on the way back, does.
The constraint that complicates the trip is not at departure: it is on the way back.

Market context
A market on the move
Dogs are travelling more than ever — and the rules have never been harder to follow
$2.4bn
Global pet travel services market in 2024, projected to reach $4.0bn by 2030. (1)
9.5%
Annual growth expected for international pet travel — the fastest-growing segment. (1)
~2 M
Animals estimated to fly on US commercial airlines each year, in cabin and in cargo. (2)
68%
Share of the pet travel services market accounted for by dogs in 2024. (3)
Demand is structural
Pets are family. Remote work, relocations and longer holidays mean dogs increasingly travel with their owners rather than staying behind.
Information is fragmented
Rules sit scattered across airline pages, government portals and forums — often outdated, rarely comparable, never in one place.
Where we fit
Existing players move pets for a fee. MyDogCanFly answers the question that comes first, for free: can my dog fly, and how?

The founder
A dog, a passion for travel, and one question nobody could answer
I'm Philippe, 54, and I spent my career in the audiovisual industry. I'm also the very happy owner of Bailey, a four-year-old Golden Retriever — and I have never travelled without wondering how to bring him along.
Every trip started the same way: hours spent cross-checking airline pages, veterinary requirements and country rules that contradicted each other. The information existed, but nobody had ever put it in one place.
Artificial intelligence finally gave me the means to build what I had been looking for as a dog owner. MyDogCanFly is the result: two passions — dogs and travel — turned into a platform that answers, in minutes, the question I used to spend weeks on.
"I didn't build MyDogCanFly for the industry. I built it for the person in front of a screen at midnight, wondering whether their dog can come."

Our mascot
Our beta tester has 4 legs
My name is Bailey, I'm a 4-year-old Golden Retriever. I've been flying since I was 3 months old!! So you could say planes have been part of my life for as long as I can remember.
Given my size, my place is in the hold, in my crate. I was lucky enough to get used to it very young, and that changes everything: today I walk in calmly, settle down, and try to sleep despite the noise :-)
I've done door-to-door journeys of more than 18 hours, while staying clean the whole way (it takes practice!)
The furthest? Mexico, for the beaches in the photo, right beside this. The water was 32°, the sand was scorching, and I don't think I've ever wanted to go home less!
But the best moment of a trip is neither the take-off nor the beach: it's the one where I find my human again, at the destination or back home!
What matters most is setting off together! ♥

Chief Barketing Officer
